Easy Air Fryer “deep fried” Oreos

Making air fryer Oreos is dangerously easy.

The Houston rodeo, carnivals and basically anything with your favorite deep fried fair foods has been cancelled this year. Thanks 2020, for teaching me that I can learn how to do all the things, online, of course.

We wondered if it’s possible to make air fried Oreos, and it turns out, you can! Brace yourselves- you don’t even have to batter them!

A nice dusting of confectioners sugar adds the finishing touch to this air fried Oreo dessert.

So, your favorite carnival food can come to life in your own kitchen, and you can have air fried Oreo cookies in minutes! They’re still suped-up chocolate and vanilla cream cookies, but they’re a little bit better for you, cooked with just a spritz of oil in the airfryer to prevent sticking.

We went with the classic Oreo, but you could do this with any flavor (variety pack). Red velvet anyone?? Girl Scout cookies not in season? Insert caramel coconut. Or grab some Halloween Oreos for a festive treat!

Are you ready? You only 4 ingredients to make this special treat! I can’t wait to hear how you love the way they turn out.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. tube crescent rolls (read: do yourself a favor and double the recipe.)
  • 8 Oreo cookies
  • milk
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Unroll the crescent roll sheet and separate the 8 perforated sections.
  2. Roll each section into a ball, then flatten the dough into a disc shape on parchment paper or other nonstick surface. Your disc should be about 1/2” wider all around the Oreo.
  3. Working one at a time, quickly dip one Oreo into a cup of milk to soften.
  4. Immediately set the dipped Oreo on a dough disc and fold the excess around, covering the Oreo. Make sure seams are completely sealed.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all remaining Oreos.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 365º F for 2 minutes.
  7. Place Oreos seam side down and air fry for 4 minutes (check at 3 minutes) or until golden brown.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar.

These are quick and easy enough to make for a special weeknight treat. We assembled and air-fried ours in minutes after dinner. Okay, we were actually making this while waiting for our 3-year-old to finish pushing food around her plate… but the point is, it came together quick and easy!
